All staff are encouraged to consider attending courses run by the University's Personal and Professional Development section to help them to improve their teaching.  The mechanisms we use to assess our teaching are the fast-feedback system whereby students write about any immediate issues and then course surveys, which lecturers ask students to participate in, usually in the last lecture of each course/module.  We are also asking course lecturers to add any feedback along with comments addressing how they have modified their course in light of the feedback, and if not, why.  This is intended to indicate to students that we do indeed listen to their feedback and act accordingly.
